How me becoming a homeowner relates to business goal setting

How long have you been working in your business? How long have you been waiting to reach that goal you set?

It took me 10 years to achieve a dream I had.

10 years ago, November 2012, my husband and I were dating. We were staying in a 1-bedroom apartment with his mom, but we were looking at houses and talking about getting married. We found this adorable little house online and we had begun planning out our monthly budget.

We broke up a month later.

Life kept moving though. He dated other people. I got married, had a baby and got divorced. THEN, in 2018 he and I reconnected and started dating again. 2019 we got married and had our first child together.

Fast forward to November 10, 2022, and my husband and I FINALLY achieved the dream we had for ourselves. There are now children involved, so that adorable 2-bedroom we were looking at wouldn't work... so we got a 5-bedroom instead lol.

It's honestly crazy to think about how God introduced an idea (that we weren't ready for), seemingly denied us, sent us down separate & unexpected paths, just to bring us back to that idea when we were actually ready and able to handle it.

Knowing this brings me so much peace when I think about my business and the dream I have for it.

The idea that was introduced in 2017, that led me to start a business in 2018, has taken so many twists and turns. Every new child, the different stages they go through, various clients and each new idea, all causing me to pivot or pause in my business multiple times. All of it bringing me back to the idea that was introduced 5 years ago.

Having a full-service digital marketing agency was my dream, but clearly I wasn't ready, but in 2023 it's coming back.

I had stopped building websites and offering social media management almost 3 years ago, but lately I've been getting so many inquiries for these services. Not only that, but now that we're about to move into our new house, I'll finally have an office which will allow me to be more organized and productive. Plus, I'm going to be back in Colorado Springs (which I love) so my creativity will be higher too.

Life!!! It's so crazy. A rollercoaster of emotions and events at times, but when it works out, it's beautiful!

I say all that to say this, the road to success is not a straight line. It often takes lots of twists, turns and detours. You have to maintain a positive mindset and be committed to entrepreneurship and growth. So long as these checkboxes are marked, then you're sure to achieve your goals.

It may take 2 years, 5 years, or even10 years, but you will get there. Don't give up on your goals and dreams.
